I have been playing golf for nearly 50 years, wow - it’s been my obsession since being 10. At 12, I started to dream big and as I practiced, each and every day, I was planting small seeds and imagining greatness. The greatness would translate into a glorious golf game and career. With each successive practice session, each New Year, I'd look for signs of the seeds rooting, and become the splendid fruit tree of my dreams.
After a tumultuous high school and college career, I wasn’t growing as a golfer. I was far from attaining what all golfers seek. Yes, golfers may not admit it but deep down, we all want that moment, that sense of connection that says "this is the reason I play".
Four decades later, I’ve had glimpses of growth, some low scores, some member-member, and outing trophies but nothing near fulfillment. I’ve survived a lightning strike, back and neck surgeries, plus the new driver, the new improved golf shafts, and the longer golf ball ..............my game still unfulfilled. I was reading all the magazines, trying every tip and quick fix, starving for the TV pundits’ next quick lesson. Yet I felt empty, my game was holding on by a thread. This being before I had the realization and idea for The Answer™.
FINALLY, that ahha moment when I realized that fruit cannot magically appear, it must be a more natural result of growth from within. For me, what an amazing relief, it was this huge burden of weight and demons being lifted from my shoulders.
So “The Answer” has changed my putting and dare I say my life? I’ve learned that “the fruit” was right there for the taking, only I could not see through the clutter of everyone’s wrong wisdom. Today, I know my stroke is good, reliable and I actually make more putts too. Of course, all putts do not find the bottom of the hole. But I am finally okay with that because I get to go home and play with my grandson Erza (instill these positive values), my family and take Bo Duke our rescued german shepherd for a walk............
We honestly hope you too can find that reason to play. If you simply manage the moment, take care of the base and roots, let the branches grow, you too can find the fruit, golf fulfillment, it’s a wonderful thing.
